MANILA, Philippines—Carlo Biado overwhelmed Johann Chua, 15-5, in the finals to rule the Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao 10-ball tournament in General Santos City late Tuesday.
Biado, the pride of La Union and playing for Bugsy Promotions of businessman Perry Mariano, pocketed the champion’s purse of P1 million put up by the seven-division world boxing champion who is also an avid pool enthusiast.
Chua settled for P400,000 second prize with Jundel Mazon and Elvis Calasang picking up P100,000 each for sharing third.
Biado earlier edged Mazon, 11-10, and Chua downed Calasang, 11-8, in the semifinals to arrange the title clash.
The tournament also drew some of the country’s top players, including former World 9-ball runner-up Roberto Gomez, Rodolfo Luat, Ramil Gallego, Demosthenes Pulpul and Warren Kiamco. Steve Silva, contributor
